Last week, we talked about if we had the choice, what we would want to learn about in class. I LOVED all of your responses and...well, I want to continue that thought. What else would we want to study or investigate into if we had the chance? Maybe someone else's interest sparked an idea for you!
Maybe study or research something specific? Maybe try a special art activity? What about something where we need to work in groups or partnerships? In 2 paragraphs explain what you would like to do in class, why would you like to do it (the importance to you), and what the impact would be on your classmates or the school (how does everyone benefit from your idea). Be sure to include how it can relate to what we're learning, our everyday lives, or our future lives. Who knows, your idea might be something we do! Please remember to follow the rubric for blog posts (this also includes responding to a classmate's response as well). Remember that a sentence response for a paragraph will not be counted!

Time is running out! There's only a few BUSY months left of 5th grade at PS 18!
What is one thing you would like for us to do in class? Maybe study or research something specific? Maybe try a special art activity? What about something where we need to work in groups or partnerships? In 3 paragraphs explain what you would like to do in class, why would you like to do it (the importance to you), and what the impact would be on your classmates (how does everyone benefit from your idea). Be sure to include how it can relate to what we're learning, our everyday lives, or our future lives. Who knows, your idea might be something we do! Please remember to follow the rubric for blog posts (this also includes responding to a classmate's response as well). Also remember that a paragraph in this sense) is not one sentence! What do you do to relax? When you're stressed out, over-worked, and just need a break...what is it that you do to calm down to get your mind back to Earth?
Give us some (no less than 5) strategies to maybe try to help us be calm! Our last post was about movies that we can watch over and over again. Now I'm wondering about television shows.
What television show is your favorite? Why? Is it a show where you can just "binge watch" if there's a marathon on where multiple episodes are on back to back to back? Is it a type of show where even if you've seen every episode, do you still stop channel surfing and watch? What show have you seen every episode of? The show can also be on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or where ever. Tell us why! I have seen many television series where I've seen every episode. Currently, I am watching "The Office"...again. It's by-far my favorite show ever! Hope everyone's break is going well!
Currently I've been watching some movies and a bunch of cooking shows. So far I've watched CoCo (again) (LOVED it, the dog was my favorite character), caught up on some tv shows that I've missed, and now I'm currently watching Bob's Burgers (one of my favorites). What movie can you watch over and over again? Do you know every line from the film? Tell us a little bit about the movie and tell us why it's one that you can watch over and over. Imagine that the entire world is covered in 6 feet of snow! What does the world look like? How do the kids deal with the snow? The adults? How does the deep snow affect the animals, birds, and fish?
For the past week, you have had an assignment to compare and contrast two different types of dance styles that we have learned where you are to also include your opinion while also including evidence and research OR a specific dance that we've learned about.
Give us a brief 1-paragraph description of what you are going to talk/have discussed about in your essay, be sure to include why you chose those the style(s), your opinion of them both, and anything else you want to include. In February, we celebrate President's Day. The day is in honor of our Nation's first president George Washington and our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln (both have birthdays in February). Between the two, which do you believe made a greater contribution to America?
What would you talk about if you could have lunch together? How do you think the president you chose would be adapting to life today? Yesterday was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. He is considered one of the most beloved civil rights activists in history. He has made many famous speeches based on the belief that everyone should be treated the same. He also has a memorial in Washington D.C. that honors his legacy, and the struggle for freedom, equality, and justice. The pictures posted above are ones of the memorial that I took on a trip to Washington D.C. a few years ago.
This week, I want you to think about... What does it mean to "do the right thing?" Why do you think some people choose to do the easy thing as opposed to the right thing? If you could invent any tool or new technology that would improve your life in some way, what would you create? What would it do? How would it work? When would you use it? Explain in a minimum of three paragraphs. https://www.nyit.edu/files/landing_hero/Home_DegreeCluster_ComputerScienceDataCyberSecurity.jpg Also, please remember that your post (including your reply/comment to a classmate's is due by Monday morning, BEFORE school begins. Any post after school begins it will be marked late. |
