It's the start of a new year. We're all working with clean slates. Over the break, I was talking to a friend about how I love the starting of a new year because it's like a newly bought journal where each day is a blank page to help write my story for the year.
This week, I want you to think about choosing kindness. What would be something kind that you could do for someone this week? What would it be? How would you do it? Why?

Hope everyone had a wonderful few days off!
Since the new year just started, and a lot of times its about starting anew...what are your top three New Year's resolutions that you would like to accomplish (can be school or not)? This post will go until January 7. It seems like there is a movie for every topic/theme these days! Especially during this time of year! Think of a seasonal movie that is your favorite (it doesn't have to be a winter holiday). Tell us in two or more paragraphs: What is the movie? What is the movie about? Why do you enjoy it? Also, please don't forget to use Prodigy math this week as many have not been using it! Our class code is: 0CD720 If you do not know your login information, please let me know and I will give it to you in class.
The winter season is often a time when people donate money to charities to help those less fortunate. A charity is an organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. A great example of this is similar to seeing how the food pantry helps the community. Other examples of charities help animals or even the environment.
Below is a list of of popular causes that charities support:
You are not limited to the causes above. You can research other causes or charities based on something that interests you. Imagine a giant box is delivered to your front doorstep with your name on it. What’s inside and what happens when you open it? Tell us in a creative story with a beginning, middle, and end!
It should be no less than 3 paragraphs! Suppose you can invite one special person, living or dead, to share your family’s dinner one Sunday evening. Would you choose a favorite relative who lives far away? A famous explorer you have studied in school? The Queen of England? Your best friend who moved away?
Think about who you would invite, and then write down 10 questions you would like to ask this person. What are you thankful for?
Think about something you're thankful for in school, at home, and something/somewhere else of your choosing. Tell us why and explain. Let's dig deep and put some thought to this. Often times, when going for job interviews, interviewers will ask many different types of questions. Of course you'll get the questions asking why you think you're so qualified for the job you're applying for, but they'll as a few personal reflection questions as well. Let's try one out! Really search deep into your thoughts and explain your reasoning:
If you are to do something for free for the rest of your life, what would you want to do? Explain what you'd be doing, what you need to do this, who would be involved, and why do you want to do this. So it's the end of another month of 5th grade. What bit of information have you learned this year so far that has really "stuck" with you? It can be in any subject, on any topic.
State what it was/is and explain in a paragraph or two, the impact it has had on you, and what impact it can have on you in the future. |
